A beautiful language, spoken up north.

Recently, in a trip through Quebec in July of 2008, me and my family got a bit lost in the northern areas.

I took a few classes of Spanish in highschool, so many of the simple words were easy to translate over to French, and I was surprised to find that though many of the more complex words were nothing like English, one could still figure out their meaning.

It is a beautiful language with it's intracacies and simplicities and a strong tie to a fiercely independant culture.

However, as a side note, I will say that after 10 hours in French-speaking territory unable to communicate effectively, someone who is only fluent in English grows weary of it.
